There is considered the dependence of architect’s success in his professional work on the level of formation of his design competence. There is given the definition of architect’s design competence as a component of his professional competence.

There is characterized the construction competence as a constituent part of success of architects professional work. There are sorted out the functions of construction competence depending on educational process regularities: innovative and creative, syncretic, motivational and hedonistic, self-actualizing.
