The article represents an overview of the scientific legacy of Professor D.N. Medrish, one of the largest domestic researchers of poetics of folklorism of literature, categories of artistic space and time in the verbal art. The author analyzes the issues and prospects of studying this legacy, proves the relevance of theoretical ideas and methodological approaches of the scientist to the modern philology.

There are analyzed the peculiarities of Chekhov’s plots and motives perception in the creative work by R.P. Kumov.

There are analyzed the Don literary traditions in the creative work by I.D. Sazanov. Special attention is paid to the principles of artistic realization of the issue “the Cossacks and the authority” that took the central place in the prerevolutionary Don literature.

Based on the analysis of the third chapter of the poem Dead Souls by N.V.Gogol, there is given the mythic and poetic commentary on its subject and figurative structure. Correlation of Gogols text and ethnographic reality and finding out the mythological symbols of its images as the signs of other space allows establishing the connection between the writers mythic poetry and funeral traditions of the Slavic folk culture.

There are considered the methodological approaches to the issues of folklorism in the works by D.N.Medrish, interpreted the significance of the scientists theoretical ideas for the modern philology.
