There are considered the appellative units that acquired more than one meaning in the process of functioning, so became polysemantic. Along with the regular ability to be reproduced in speech, to be fixed in dictionary, grammatical and syntagmatic forms, this feature is one of the criteria that the appellative unit is not the fact of speech but the fact of language now.

Research of appellative units in the functional aspect made it possible to state that they can be semantic and stylistic synonyms in relation to the dominant of a synonymic row; meanwhile they fulfil two functions– style organization of a text and differentiating. Most of such units are created with the help of intertextually marked pronomination based on rethinking of poetonym or mythonym.

There are regarded the types of proper names that can be transferred to common nouns. There is shown that anthroponyms, mythonyms, zoonyms and toponyms can be apellativized. All proper names that became common nouns are precedent.
